Philia 1 is a learning resource for the first module of upper secondary school philosophy.
Both Philia 1 and the Finnish upper secondary school curriculum begin with the premise that philosophy is primarily a skill. First, we examine philosophy as a methodical and disciplined way of thinking and making arguments. After this, we turn to look at some central philosophical problems, particularly in the field of philosophy of mind. After this, the discussion turns to epistemology, and finally to the philosophy of science. These branches of philosophy consider the conditions under which knowledge of reality can be obtained.
The book follows the Finnish upper secondary school curriculum (LOPS2021).
